AC Milan are gearing up for their first full season under head coach Ruben Amorim, as they will try to outdo their fifth-place finish in the Serie A standings last term. So far, the Rossoneri have been among the busiest calcios in the summer transfer window.
The Rossoneri let go of deadwood in the form of Alex Jimenez, Tommaso Pobega, Lorenzo Colombo, and Alvaro Morata. In return, they went out and got Mario Gila from Lazio and Goncalo Ramos from PSG, strengthening their backline and frontline. According to the Serie A 2026 news, AC Milan paid around €100 million for those two.
Gila and Ramos’ arrivals surely help AC Milan’s Serie A 2026 odds this upcoming season, but those moves alone won’t be enough to challenge for a Scudetto. They may need to make two to three moves to add depth, and it doesn’t have to be a splashy one.
Today, SBOTOP lists some of the prospects they’ve been linked to recently and why bringing them over makes sense.
Franco Mastantuono, Real Madrid
AC Milan had the lowest scoring output among the Top 5 teams last season with only 53 goals, so they’re compelled to upgrade their attacking corps. No Rossoneri reached double-digit goals last season, with Rafael Leao being the closest at nine goals, while Christian Pulisic and Christopher Nkunku had eight and seven goals. Samuele Ricci, Pulisic, and Adrien Rabiot were the team’s joint-top playmakers with four assists apiece.
With that said, AC Milan have been busy working the phones to add more firepower. Contrary to popular belief, head coach Ruben Amorim does like to give chances to young players (except for Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United, for some reason), and they’ve been linked to a few this offseason.
Among them is Franco Mastantuono, who can play as a winger, second striker, or an attacking midfielder. The 18-year-old joined Real Madrid in 2025, but things haven’t gone according to plan, as he has played sporadically thus far. The Argentine international only managed three goals and one assist in 35 appearances for Los Blancos last term.
If Mastantuono’s camp is running out of patience at the Bernabeu, perhaps AC Milan could offer him a clean slate. Besides the Rossoneri, Mastantuono is linked to a potential move to Fiorentina, another side that also needs to strengthen its attack after a 15th-place finish.
But if AC Milan opt for experience, they could go with Gabriel Jesus, who has one year left on his contract with Arsenal and is valued at around €23 million.
Konstantinos Karetsas, Genk
Another young attacker linked to AC Milan is Konstantinos Karetsas. The Greek international is also being eyed by Borussia Dortmund, which reportedly offered €40 million (rejected by Genk). Galatasaray and PSG are also monitoring the 18-year-old.
Karetsas has contributed three goals and a whopping 18 assists in 19 competitive matches for Genk last term. He came up through the Genk youth academy and had represented Belgium at various youth levels before getting a call-up for the Greece national team.
If AC Milan are serious about acquiring Karetsas, they must make room for him by selling some of their players. Among the sell candidates is Rafael Leao, who is reportedly seeking a new challenge elsewhere, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce as his suitors. According to reports, AC Milan will look to raise around €50-60 million from the sale of the Portuguese forward.
Besides Leao, AC Milan have put Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori up for sale, as the two veterans are reportedly not part of Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans. The former Chelsea stars are on expiring contracts.
Tomori is attracting interest from Hull City, Coventry City, West Ham United, and Newcastle United. However, Loftus-Cheek isn’t keen on leaving San Siro, as he’s convinced he can earn a place under Amorim and would have no problem staying until the end of his contract.
Antonio Silva, Benfica
AC Milan might need an additional centre-back, which is why they were once linked to Antonio Silva. The 22-year-old defender is ready for a new chapter after spending four years with Benfica.
But standing in the way of the Rossoneri is Bournemouth, who are reportedly close to nab Silva. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, despite the links, AC Milan never picked up the phone to call Benfica for Silva’s signature, which is a shame. AC Milan probably didn’t feel the urgency to poach Silva because they already signed Sankhoun Diawara from Ligue 2 club Troyes. The 20-year-old was brought in as a potential replacement for Strahinja Pavlovic, who could leave this summer and was once linked to Chelsea.
