This Year’s Bundesliga is Bayern Munich’s to Lose For Sure

Bayern Munich are on course to win the Bundesliga again, as their rivals have dropped in form in recent weeks. Borussia Dortmund were supposed to close the gap, but their two-game winless run has done them in. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen still have a lot of ground to catch up.

At the time of writing, Vincent Kompany’s men have 63 points after 24 matchdays, giving them at least an 11-point cushion over the rest of the chasing pack in the German top-flight standings. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Bayern Munich should win their second straight Meisterschale.

While Bayern Munich are poised to win the title, the rest will be fighting for the remaining European spots. Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim, and VfB Stuttgart plan to tack on more points to consolidate their Top 4 berths.

Continue reading below, as SBOTOP previews the Top 3 matches on Matchday 25.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have been Bayern Munich’s bogey team over the years, and the rest of the chasing pack will root for the Foals to defy the Bundesliga 2026 odds and score another upset against the Bavarian giants when they convene at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.

Historically, Borussia Monchengladbach have inflicted more Bundesliga losses on Bayern Munich (L28, D31) than any other side in the German top-flight, and the 143 goals scored across their 115 prior encounters with the Bavarian giants is also a domestic record.

Borussia Monchengladbach are fresh from a 1-0 win over Union Berlin, ending their seven-game winless run, as Kevin Diks converted the winning penalty in stoppage time. The Indonesian centre-back is going to be a busy man this weekend, as he’ll have his hands full keeping Bayern Munich’s attackers at bay.

Bayern Munich are coming off a 3-2 win in the second edition of the Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, extending their winning streak to four games. Harry Kane notched a brace, and Joshua Kimmich put the final nail in the coffin with his goal in the 87th minute.

Vincent Kompany’s side will likely be without Manuel Neuer for the third consecutive game due to fitness concerns, so Jonas Urbig should remain in goal. Otherwise, Bayern Munich should deploy the same core against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Mainz vs VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart are undefeated in their last three matches to stay fourth in the Bundesliga table with 46 points

Mainz and VfB Stuttgart will meet for the third time this season on Saturday, and the latter plans to complete a triple over the former. Their first two encounters happened in late October, with VfB Stuttgart winning 2-1 in their reverse league fixture before winning 2-0 in the DFB-Pokal second round three days later.

After two straight wins, including a 2-1 upset of RB Leipzig, the 05ers dropped points in their last three games, losing handily to Borussia Dortmund (4-0) before 1-1 draws against Hamburg SV and Bayer Leverkusen. In their last two draws, Mainz were ahead by one goal before they conceded second-half equalisers from Fabio Vieira and Jarell Quansah. As a result, they remain in 14th place with 23 points, only three points adrift of the drop zone.

VfB Stuttgart are undefeated in their last three to stay fourth in the table with 46 points, level with Hoffenheim. Since their 2-1 loss to FC St. Pauli last month, Sebastian Hoeneß’ men caught fire in the final third, notching 10 goals in their last three league matches, and they are also through to the Europa League Round of 16 after dispatching Celtic (4-2 on aggregate).

Deniz Undav is Die Schwaben’s top scorer with 14 league goals, good for second in the Bundesliga Golden Boot, and he has accounted for three of their last 10 goals.

Betting tip – Total Goals 2-3 @ 2.09

Heidenheim vs TSG Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim enter Matchday 25 in must-win mode after dropping points in their last two games to stay afloat in the tightening Top 4 race. Christian Ilzer’s side drew 2-2 against Koln before losing 1-0 to FC St. Pauli in one of the surprising Bundesliga 2026 results last weekend.

Die Kraichgauer have been heavily reliant on Andrej Kramaric this season, as the Croatian striker has been their top scorer with 10 goals, good for joint-fifth in the Bundesliga Golden Boot race. Kramaric is in his contract year, so he’s incentivised to keep playing well for Hoffenheim.

Heidenheim are at the bottom of the German top-flight with 14 points, and relegation seems inevitable. Frank Schmidt’s men haven’t won a league match since early December against SC Freiburg (2-1).

Betting tip – TSG Hoffenheim Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 2.04
