Eintracht Frankfurt vs TSG Hoffenheim
All roads lead to Frankfurt on Saturday for a tasty Bundesliga clash, when Eintracht Frankfurt vs Hoffenheim is the action on offer, a seventh versus third tussle as we enter Round 19 of the 2025-26 campaign.
Last time out, Eintracht drew 3-3 away to Werder Bremen, while Christian Ilzer’s TSG pulled off a statement 1-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen. With 10 points from four games, it is the visitors who are on the march, and Hoffenheim have their eyes on a Champions League place.
In stark contrast, Eintracht are without a victory in four, but the Eagles are in Champions League action on Wednesday night, and interim coach Dennis Schmitt will take charge of his first game following the departure of Dino Toppmoller, who left the building immediately after the draw with Bremen.
The new man takes over a club in the doldrums in Europe, languishing in 33rd place in the Champions League and sliding out of contention at home, and the Bundesliga 2026 betting odds say he may well face a baptism of fire.
Talking Points
Can Scmitt prompt an Eintracht bounce?
Is the “new manager bounce” actually a thing? Well, experience has shown that when a new man walks in through the door, more often than not, there is an uptick in results, however temporary. A fresh pair of eyes on the training ground, a change in culture, and most importantly, a squad of players who suddenly need to impress a new boss, can all have a positive impact.
Personalities play a part. Some players will warm to a new face and suddenly find a spring in their step. But one player who Schmitt will need to start his tenure without is top scorer Jonathan Burkhardt, who has scored eight goals from 10 games since his summer move from Mainz. The 25-year-old striker picked up a nasty muscle injury during a Champions defeat to Atalanta at the end of November and is yet to reappear, with no good news from the club as I write.
But without Burkhardt, the Eagles have had no problem scoring. Eintracht’s clash with Borussia Dortmund was an entertaining 3-3 draw, and they have shared the goals around. Meanwhile, the Eintracht defence had been rather generous in recent weeks, conceding nine goals in the last three games.
Schmitt has stepped up from his role as Eintracht Frankfurt II boss, so he knows the club. But if he can pull off a win against Hoffenheim, then we can put that down as an impressive bounce.
Can Hoffenheim take their home form on the road?
With a superb set of league results under their belts, Hoffenheim have climbed into top four contention and their 1-0 win over Leverkusen was a sixth home win in succession. A brilliant free-kick from Wouter Burger, which flew into the top right corner, gave TSG a ninth-minute lead, and Ilzer’s team held on in some comfort.

This is a team with quality, confidence, and experience running through it, from keeper Oliver Baumann to striker Andrej Kramaric, and Burger, signed from Stoke City in the summer, has settled well into a defencive midfield role, also popping up with four goals.
Former West Ham United wing-back Vladimir Coufal is also enjoying his time in Hoffenheim and adds an attacking threat on the wing to his defencive nous.
They are on a brilliant run at the PreZero Arena, but TSG’s last two away games have yielded just one point, a 2-0 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund and a goalless draw in Stuttgart. And while this trip to Frankfurt does present another opportunity, they will face the unknown under a new manager.
History
The head-to-heads between Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim are in favour of the former, who have 14 wins to 10, while there have been nine draws from the last 33 meetings.
And at the Deutsche Bank Park, there have been some good tussles, with eight wins for the Eagles, four draws, and four Hoffenheim victories. Eintracht are unbeaten in five against TSG, winning four of those meetings 3-1 and drawing the other 2-2, and TSG’s last success was a 3-1 win back in 2023.
But in terms of recent form, TSG are stronger with four wins, one draw, and one defeat, while Eintracht have won only one, drawn three, and lost two of their last six outings.
Betting Tip
This is a tough game to call with the hosts Eintracht at 2.63 to win and Hoffenheim the marginal favourites at 2.40, with the draw at 3.60.
Each of the last 10 meetings between these two clubs has yielded at least four goals, and the two prior to those ten gave us three goals each. Both teams have goals in them, scoring 24 between them over their last six games each.
As a matter of interest, a 3-1 win for the Eagles is priced at 15.00, and a 3-1 TSG success is available at SBOTOP odds of 14.00. Either way, we’ll have new Bundesliga 2026 highlights this weekend for the fans to enjoy.
