Spain’s premier cup competition has reached the quarter-final stage and the big guns are ready to line up in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals this week.
Reigning champions Athletic Bilbao are no longer in the competition having been dumped out by Osasuna in the Round of 16 and Los Rojillos are joined in the last eight by Barcelona and the two Madrid giants, as well as Real Sociedad, Getafe, Valencia and Leganes.
The Blaugrana have the most title wins of all, last lifting the trophy in 2021 and the Copa del Rey 2025 betting odds reckon it will be a shoot-out between Hansi Flick’s team and Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid. Last year’s winners Athletic Bilbao have won the Copa 24 times while 2023 champions Real Madrid have 20 wins, ten more than Atletico’s ten. Of the remaining teams 2022 champions Valencia have won the Copa eight times but they face a tough last eight clash against Barcelona.
Let’s take a closer look at the final eight and some of the SBOTOP offers for the matches this week, which will be played between Tuesday and Thursday.
Atletico Madrid vs Getafe
The action starts at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night when Diego Simeone’s Atletico welcome Getafe. Los Rojiblancos aimed to kick-start their La Liga title campaign with a match against Real Mallorca at the weekend and they won it 2-0 to close the gap at the top of the La Liga table after Real Madrid fell to surprise defeat away to Espanyol. Antoine Griezmann scored the second goal and the France star, at the age of 33, is as influential as ever, with coolness in front of goal and invention in the build up. Summer recruit Julian Alvarez has benefited from Griezmann’s support and he is starting to enjoy life in Madrid.
14th placed Getafe played out a 0-0 draw with Sevilla at the weekend and they have a tough task to upset the odds on Tuesday with Atleti at odds of 1.44 to win in 90 minutes and 1.23 to make it to the semi-finals, with Getafe at 3.70 to survive this clash.
Leganes vs Real Madrid
Ancelotti’s league leaders don’t have far to travel as they have a quarter-final clash away to Madrid minnow Leganes on Wednesday. They will hope to put the defeat to Espanyol behind them and have a tough run of fixtures to come. Los Blancos face Manchester City in their Champions League play-off and the Madrid derby is just around the corner.
Real Madrid are at 1.36 to win and 4.33 to draw, while Leganes, currently 16th in the La Liga table, are priced at 6.28.
Real Sociedad vs Osasuna
The Basque region is represented by Sociedad in the final eight and, on Thursday Osasuna are the visitors to San Sebastian for probably the most competitive clash of the final eight. The two teams met only on Sunday and it was Osasuna who came out on top, winning by the odd goal in three as danger man Ante Budimir scored a brace. The Croatian hitman also scored twice when Osasuna beat Athletic Bilbao in the last round and La Real will have to keep a close eye on him. With four defeats from their last six games the Basque team are down in 11th place but only two points behind Osasuna in seventh, and so still in the hunt for a European place.
La Real are priced at 1.59 to beat Osasuna and exact some revenge for their La Liga loss.
Valencia vs Barcelona
The last fixture of the final eight will command its fair share of Copa del Rey 2025 highlights as it pitches together relegation threatened Valencia and one of the favourites, and still La Liga title hopefuls, Barcelona. Los Ches’ are the lowest ranked side at 19th in the table and while they have struggled in the league they have progressed nicely in the competition they won just three years ago. And Valencia picked up a rare league win on Saturday as they beat Celta Vigo 2-1, a second victory in three games which sees them climb to within four points of safety. Barca are priced at 1.44 to beat Valencia and that’s no surprise as the Catalans are up in third and now only four points behind Los Blancos at the summit.
Barcelona beat Alaves 1-0 at the weekend as the evergreen Robert Lewandowski scored his 18th league goal of the campaign, and alongside the red-hot Raphinha, he could terrorise the Valencia defence. And Los Ches might well see the league as priority.
